Minister is on the move

Members of Torrington Methodist Church are preparing to say farewell to their Minister, the Rev David Gregory, who is leaving this month.

Mr Gregory has led them in a varied programme since coming to
Torrington with his wife Rosemary and their five foster children 12 years ago.

The major event under his ministry has been the refurbishment of the church building, the interior of which has been re-designed to bring it into more general use.

It was while this work was being done that Mr Gregory suffered the loss of his wife from cancer. Her life is remembered in the church screen which separates the worship place from the welcome area.

Among the many activities which have taken place during his time, church members have laughed their way through seven pantomimes, largely written by Mr Gregory, who also took the part of the villain, raising hearty boos and hisses.

He has has also written books and dramas, bringing Bible stories to life for ordinary people.

But to many of his flock he will be remembered for his
humour and his vigour.

They wished him continued
vigour in his future work in Newton Abbot.
