1832-2007 Torrington Methodist Church 175th Anniversary
On 25th December 1832 Torrington Methodist Church was dedicated to the Glory of God and so, during the course of this year various special events are planned to take place in celebration of that date. It may seem curious that worship should start on a day which was not necessarily a Sunday but in those times Christmas day was the only public holiday and so people were free to come to church. Why did we celebrate? Firstly, to acknowledge our gratitude to all those who had the vision, faith and commitment to build this church to the glory of God. Secondly, to give thanks to all who have worshipped and served the Lord in years gone by. Thirdly, to accept the challenge of our day, to offer ourselves in joyful obedience to our Lord, serving Him and the people of Torrington. |
